Safety obligations sit with line management and cover site induction and toolbox briefings, documented safe working procedures for dredging, barge movement, pipeline handling and fabrication, appropriate personal protective equipment, marine safety practice, incident and near-miss reporting, corrective action and emergency response arrangements at each operational base.
Quality is managed through method rather than inspection at the end. Scope and specification are agreed before mobilisation, material quality is verified against project requirements, equipment follows scheduled preventive maintenance, engineering supervision supports fabrication and system assembly, and delivery records are maintained for client verification.
Operations are carried out within the regulatory framework governing Nigeria’s waterways and mineral titles. Practice covers extraction within licensed and approved areas, management of turbidity, spillage and discharge, responsible waste, fuel and lubricant handling, and consideration of navigation, shoreline and habitat impact.
Surge Forte engages host communities and waterway users ahead of mobilisation, maintains channels for concerns to be raised and addressed during execution, and prioritises local employment and local suppliers where capability exists.
The company’s approach to sustainability is practical: extract only under valid licence, restore and stabilise reclaimed ground to specification, maintain equipment to reduce fuel consumption and emissions per cubic metre moved, and build long-term operational capacity in Nigeria through the technology transfer embedded in the Sinotech joint venture.
